Angela and Scott Married at the Four Seasons Hualalai! (Kona, Big Island)

For those who have never been to the Four Season's Hualali in Kona, this 5 star luxury hotel is situated in a very interesting location in Hawaii....the property is pretty much surrounded by black, lava rock. Out from the rubble like rock formations emerges lush green vegetation, palm trees and sweeping lawns. A great setting for Angela and Scott's destination wedding.
Congratulations Angela and Scott!

Lesley and Jonathan Wedding Highlights (Halekulani, Waikiki)

Lesley is a twin sister....which tugs on my heart strings because I have two twin daughters myself. ; ) Lesley described having a twin was like being born with your best friend. Lesley's sister admitted during her maid of honor speech that she was a little J in having to share Lesley with someone else (Jonathan, lol) but was so happy to have him as her brother -in -law. Beautiful wedding at the Hau Terrace, Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki. Congratulations Lesley and Jonathan!

Luz-Ann and Chris Married!

We met Luz-Ann and Chris at Maui Expo at the first time back in early 2012. It was great to fly over to Maui, and shoot across the island all day - started from the getting ready in Wailua, to the ceremony at the Kamehameha Gold Club, and finally ending with the reception at Maui Beach Hotel. Their bridal party was full of energy throughout the day, and they shared a lot of laughs, especially at the reception! The couple had this newly-wed quiz game which the wives and husbands had to match their answers for personal questions - all of the contestants and the guests learned a lot about the newly-wed's personalities and memorable stories :-)

Congratulations Luz-Ann and Chris!

Maria and Brandon Married!

To start things off, Brandon and Maria booked the Ihilani Resort for their wedding for mainly one reason: the sunset. Here in Hawaii, we are blessed with nice sunsets, but they are often hit or miss, depending on the weather. It's because of this that we were extremely stoked that after the ceremony, the couple was treated to easily the best sunset anyone of us has ever seen at the Ihilani!

The little details throughout the day added lots of depth to the wedding. Brandon wore a Bazinga shirt, as a homage to one of Maria's favorite phrases. The couple chose their wedding date (July 6th) to coincide with Brandon's parents' anniversary, who they surprised at the reception with a chance to dance together on the dance floor. Pictures of Maria and Brandon's grandparents who passed away allowed for them to be present in spirit.

Brandon and Maria's crazy awesome wedding party made formals a blast, from staging a football stand-off, to clamoring over the rocks for group shots. Throw in the awesome sunset, and a reception full of laughter and you got yourself a pretty cool wedding :)

Congratulations you two!

Kristin and John Same-Day Edit (Hale Koa, Waikiki)

Kristin and John Same-Day-Edit (Hale Koa, Waikiki) from Isle Media on Vimeo.

Hailing from California, Kristin and John decided to have their destination wedding on Oahu! Both have a huge passion for sports (Kristin played multiple sports growing up, and John coaches volleyball and basketball to inner city kids), so it was very fitting that they had a sports theme for their big day. From the volleyball for the guests to sign, to the game-day theme grand entrance, Kristin and John's day was filled with lots of memorable moments...congratulations you two!

Cassie and Tommy Married!

Cassie and Tommy decided to have their destination wedding out on the North Shore, at Dillingham Ranch, a brand new venue for us! This wedding really showed us just how much family love can overcome any kind of physical distance. On the day of, Cassie received a special package in the mail from her grandmother. It had a pair of handkerchiefs and a ring that she had at her wedding, and wanted to pass it on to Cassie. Let's just say there were a lot of tears! Also, Cassie's sister was unable to fly down to Hawaii for the wedding, so she tuned in via skype on a laptop to watch her sister get married :)

Thank you Cassie and Tommy for letting us be a part of your special day...congratulations!

Kelly and Kevin Same-Day-Edit (Ihilani, Koolina)

Kelly and Kevin Same-Day-Edit (Ihilani, Koolina) from Isle Media on Vimeo.

When Kelly first inquired about hiring us, she really wanted to incorporate two versions of Falling In Love,  Ingrid >>> into UB40.   The slow melodic beats helped create a very soft and sensitive mood for the getting ready, and then after the ceremony kicked in the video turned more upbeat and happy.  We loved Kelly feathery dress, the custom hangers, and all the little details she mixed in to her day

Congratulations Kelly and Kevin!

Elise and Jamie Post Wedding

I remember when Elise contacted me about her wedding she simply wanted several photos of her and her husband Jamie.  In Isle Media fashion Aly and I spent the afternoon proving that she would want more than just a few photos to remember their wedding day.  We shot at Rocky Point Beach late in the afternoon to catch the sunset but also made use of the greenery and the ply wood fence along the way.  Through our time together it was clear that Elise and Jamie were having just as much fun as we were shooting them.  Their expressions were nothing short of wonderful and showed their upbeat personalities.

Kristin and John Engaged!

One cool thing about our jobs is that we get to meet people from all walks of life! Kristin owns a comic book shop in California (some of those older comics are worth BIG money!), and John coaches volleyball for the inner city youth. Both Kristin and John love volleyball, and decided to make that the theme of their engagement shoot :) We'll be shooting the wedding next week...congrats you two!

P.S almost forgot to mention how much these two love Starbucks...we went to grab coffee after the shoot and they added a personal touch to their coffees :)

Berna and Mike Same -Day -Edit (Hale Koa, Waikiki)

We showed this same-day-edit to the reception last night at the Hale Koa. Much of the house were brought to tears, including Berna and Mike. Sometimes I have to stop and ask myself, how is it that our videos can have such an impact on others? What did we do anyways?
Reflecting to earlier in the day, Mike said something very profound to us in the hotel room. "...Alan, guys, you are part of OUR family now, so you all need to take a SHOT!!!! (lol)" As each wedding passes by, we are coming closer and closer to the reality that we do share a unique bond with our couples that in some cases will last a lifetime. For those that let us in, we will be family to you, you are a family to us, which is the entire basis on why Isle Media exists today. Coming from a small family myself, my only hope in starting this company was to have new friends, build lasting relationships, and be able to give to others. Our goal in our videos, is to capture incredible moments and bring out the best in people.
BTW, if you give me embarrassing, goofy, in other words... honest moments, you better believe it's going in your same-day-edit to show to a live audience. LOL !
Congratulations to Berna and Mike!!!

Lisa and Derek Same-Day-Edit (The Modern, Waikiki)

Not many people know this, but I do have a soft spot for dancers. Lisa and Derek planned a surprise ballroom/contemporary piece to wow their guests, and that they sure did. When I heard they were having a dress rehearsal the night prior, my creative juices kicked in and thought I would be try a shot I always wanted to do but never had the opportunity. P.S. - more kudos to Lisa and Derek being our first locals to ever have an indoor wedding ceremony (and by choice!!!). Lucky we live Hawaii!
Congratulations to Lisa and Derek. Much love to Patches, their dog, as well !

Sarah and Chris Married!

Sarah and Chris are by far the biggest foodies who gave us the honor to shoot their wedding at Byodo-in Temple.  What made it special was the custom menu and the special cocktails that needed to meet Chris's approval before being served to their guests.  Also, getting married at Byodo-in Temple was significant because it is one of their favorite places on the Island of Oahu.  The reception that followed took place at the Bella Sophia Estate in Waimanalo, which gave a nice intimate feel for everyone that attended.

Paula and Steve Married!

Paula and Steve got married at the Ko Olina Chapel of Joy, one of our favorite venues for its beautiful glass interior. Prior to the ceremony, Paula and Steve did a First Look "teaser," in which they held each other's hands, without seeing one another, until the ceremony. The couple and their friends and family flew in from California, so it was a small, intimate affair throughout the day.

Things got interesting during the reception, with the couple dancing along with the Taihitian Dancers. Let's just say the bouquet and garter toss were pretty wild, and the dancing that ensued after had everyone out of their chairs, having a blast :)

Congratulations Paula and Steve!

Vintage Before and after makeup and hair for Ramona!

Vintage inspired bridal makeup and hair style.
Ramona's before and after vintage hair and makeup for her wedding was held at the beautiful Loulu Palm Estate.  Ramona wanted the Gwen Stefani pompadour hair style so we twisted her hair up into an interesting ponytail design.  Her makeup was also inspired by Gwen.  Warm reds was applied to lips for that classic look!  Vintage beauty is timeless and beautiful.

Sumer and Adam Married!

Sumer and Adam both have been long-time followers of our work, (they booked us over a year ago!) and it was awesome to be with them on their big day! Hailing from Colorado, Sumer and Adam have quite the story of how they met: due to a wrong reading off of a medical test, Sumer was held back in the hospital room, where Adam (who works as an EMT) happened to walk in during his shift, and well, the rest is history :)

On the day of the wedding, Sumer and Adam didn't let some dark clouds and rain stop them from tying the knot. The entire wedding party and guests were all prepared with umbrellas, which we put to good use for formals after the ceremony :) The reception was rounded out nicely with heartfelt speeches, laughter, dancing, and a special fireknife performance!

Congratulations guys!

Liz and Skyler Same-Day-Edit (Chicago, Illinois)

For those may not know, Chicago is where I was born and grew up. After being away for nearly 15 years since I made my escape to Hawaii, I had to unique opportunity to return home with my daughters and of course....had to shoot a wedding while I was back!   Some of the things that excited me and our team, was that there were no beaches, mountains, or fancy resorts to work with.  Alternatively, we had access to some cornfields, a barn,  silos, and a donkey.  We loved it!  There was a lot of time in producing some the beautiful DIY (do-it-yourself) decor.  The pinwheels were so cute!  And, I've never seen a boutonnière as....voluptuous as Skyler's (lol,  but you rocked it!)  Liz and Skyler did not hold back in front of our cameras, and it was our goal to bring out the goofy, the passion, and lets not forget...the crazy (had to leave some of those clips out of this version, lol).

Congratulations to Liz and Skyler for an amazing day!

Thailand Trip Part Two!

With all the wedding stuff we've been posting recently, we wanted to revisit our Thailand/India trip and pick up where we left off. After flying out of Phuket, Alan, Jack and I flew in Chiang Mai (Northern Thailand). This region was very mountainous, with a cool climate, a nice break from the unrelenting humidity that we experienced in Bangkok! Alan took us elephant riding, which was definitely a highlight of trip for us all! It's hard to describe the feeling of riding two stories above the ground, while sliding around in the platform atop the elephant...oh, and one of our elephants turned to be really hungry and kept pestering us for bananas and sugar cane lol. We visited a shopping center with vendors packed in like sardines, checked out a Buddhist monk academy and temple, and tried a ton of delicious (and authentic) food!

After Chiang Mai, we flew back to Bangkok. We made the trip out to Amphawa Floating Market, an iconic area where vendors set up their boats along a large canal and see their food. Alan also learned that he was going to have two baby girls, an ironic twist, as he had been planning on having two boys, or a boy and a girl!

We'll never forget when we were about to enter the movie theatre to watch "Wizard of Oz" in the shopping center, when Alan got the call from his surrogate agency...the babies had just been born! It was a whirlwind ride the next few days, and we promptly left for India. But we'll save that for another post :)

Krys and Rob Same-Day-Edit (Hilton Hawaiian Village, Waikiki)

Krys and Rob had a small and intimate wedding at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  Rob planned to surprise Krys with the wedding bands that she wanted but wasn't expecting to arrive in time for their wedding.  His surprise worked.. and Krys was absolutely blown away.  Towards the end of the afternoon we were gifted a gorgeous sunset for the end of the formals.  Krys and Rob coordinated a cute dance for their entrance and did their own "Banzai" rendition!

Congratulations to you both!

Tanya and Patrick's Vow Renewal

Tanya and Patrick had an intimate vow renewal with their closest friends and family at the Hickam Officer's Club.  It took place directly with the sun setting and was beautiful and emotional in it's own special way.  What made it most memorable was seeing their children all take part in the ceremony not just as part of the bridal party but also saying special words about the love that their parents shared with each other.

#instabreakup part II (a comedy)

Some might not know that before Isle Media shot weddings, we filmed skits.  We've been extremely busy as of late, but I did manage to make some time to get back to our roots and practice a different type of storytelling.  When I stumbled across saw #instabreakup part 1 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=0EQp_7W_j3c)  filmed by Billy Nguyen and his crew, I told him that if him and friends were up for it, I would film part II.

Well, here it is.  :)
Enjoy!

p.s.-   ...my twin daughters Ava and Addison were able to make a small cameo !
