Luz-Ann and Chris Married!

We met Luz-Ann and Chris at Maui Expo at the first time back in early 2012. It was great to fly over to Maui, and shoot across the island all day - started from the getting ready in Wailua, to the ceremony at the Kamehameha Gold Club, and finally ending with the reception at Maui Beach Hotel. Their bridal party was full of energy throughout the day, and they shared a lot of laughs, especially at the reception! The couple had this newly-wed quiz game which the wives and husbands had to match their answers for personal questions - all of the contestants and the guests learned a lot about the newly-wed's personalities and memorable stories :-)

Congratulations Luz-Ann and Chris!

Cassiee and Eldon Married!

Eldon and Cassiee Same-Day-Edit (Kohala, Big Island) from Isle Media on Vimeo.
Cassiee and Eldon's Twilight-inspired wedding is easily one of the most photogenic and emotional events we've ever documented. To start things off, the venue, Kahua Ranch, was a jaw dropper. Rolling hills, billowing clouds, and visibility for miles around. The details of this wedding were very thoughtful and unifying, from the wedding signs leading into the venue, to hand-made chocolate with the couple's photo on the front, to the spectacular cake and candy bar at the reception. Cassiee and Eldon both lost family members before their wedding, making the event quite emotional for the couple.

Formals were one of our highlights, whether it was the vivid sunset, or climbing into a tree to get a birds- eye view of the couple laying in the grass. Sam Choy catered the food at the reception, blending local and traditional food, along with some fantastic desserts that rounded everything out nicely. The reception program was packed with a bunch of surprises, from Cassiee's hula that she performed for Eldon, to the choreographed dance number that the bridal party did for the audience. A sparklers exit brought a fitting closure to a day that was nothing short of epic for everyone. Congratulations you two!

Love in Kohala

Here's a sneak peak from Eldon and Cassiee's wedding in Kohala! Their wedding was easily one of the most photogenic events we've ever documented, and we were stoked to be a part of it! Trevor and I climbed up a tree to get this angle for photo/video, and it was well worth the effort :) More to come later!!

Behind the Scenes at the Kwan Wedding!

One very cool thing about shooting weddings is having the opportunity to travel to the outer islands, and in some cases, even the mainland. When Michelle and Joe booked us for their Maui wedding back in December, a full team of us flew up to Kahalui to document their day. As with our other travels, we were sure to make the most the trip :) Enjoy!!

Hiroko & Daisuke Married!

Hiroko & Daisuke flew from Yokohama for their intimate wedding in the Big Island! They got ready at a beautiful resort hotel, Mauna Lani Bay in South Kohala coast, then had a ceremony in Kona, then reception back at Mauna Lani Bay. Both Hiroko and Daisuke work for a TV production company in Tokyo - they were rather comfortable behind the camera (just like me!), but this time, they were in front of the camera :-) A few days before their wedding, Kona had pretty thick vog and the sunset was less colorful - on the contrary, on their wedding day, it was just like magic that the sky was so clear and the sunset was so beautiful! It was wonderful to be a part of their day!

Congratulations!

Michelle and Joe Married!!

Michelle and Joe Same-Day-Edit Video & Photo (Makena Beach Resort, Maui) from Isle Media on Vimeo.
Michelle and Joe are both long time followers of our work, and it was awesome to document their big day at Makena Resort on Maui! The wedding was full of memorable details, from the guri guri and gift presentation of glass beakers (Joe broke Michelle's beakers in school), to Joe's Audio Technica headphones while he got dressed. Oh, and Michelle decided not to take Joe's last name (Kwan) for obvious reasons lol. The reception was full of laughter and dancing, and "Gangam Style" and "Cupid Shuffle" proved to get people out of their seats and rock out on the dance floor.

We surprised Joe and Michelle with a Same Day Edit, and the debut of our new service, Same Day Photo! Check out both pieces for the full experience :)

Congratulations you two!!

Analisa & Andrew Married!

Analisa and Andrew have been together for quite a while (12 years), and it was one of those situations where it wasn't a matter of if, but when they would tie the knot :) The couple had their wedding at Secret Cove on Maui, which was as beautiful as it was secluded. The morning sun, clear skies, and waves crashing on the shore made it pretty picture perfect :) The couple, along with their families and friends that came were all a great bunch...they made me feel right at home with them, and made it really easy to document the day. Jaxon, Analisa and Andrew's son, had a fair share of the attention throughout the day, and people took turns playing with him. When you see the photos of him, you'll understand why :) After the ceremony, everyone headed over to Duke's in Ka'anapali, for a delicious lunch, that was topped off with these huge servings of macadamia nut ice cream pie! Anyways, on to the photos...congratulations Analisa and Andrew!!

Jocelyn and RJ Married!!

I first officially met Jocelyn and RJ back in April when they flew to Oahu for their engagement video and photo session. We had been emailing back and forth about booking info for a couple months prior, and it was very awesome to meet the two of them in person! RJ was a total goof during the engagement session, and kept us laughing the entire time with his endless stream of jokes. Jocelyn was more on the quiet side, but I could tell she was the visionary for the wedding, and knew exactly what she wanted. These two have an adorable proposal story, so be sure to check out our engagement video here :)

Anyway, four months later, the Isle Media team flew out to Maui to document Jocelyn and RJ's wedding at the Maui Sheraton. This place is flat out gorgeous, and the wedding is easily one of the most colorful we have ever shot (this blog post is full color for that reason). Jocelyn's favorite color (purple) was the theme of the wedding, and it was very impressive to see it echoed throughout the day. Jocelyn and RJ had a HUGE wedding party, and let me tell you, they guys knew how to have a good time :) From the Tahitian dancing and fireknife performances, to the kissing challenge, to the open dancing at the reception, this wedding was crazy crazy fun :) Oh, and the Isle Media team got pulled onto the dance floor after we were done shooting to take part in the fun!!

Congratulations Jocelyn and RJ!! You guys rock :)

Rockin the Purple :)

Here's a couple sneak peak shots from Jocelyn and RJ's wedding this past Friday at the Maui Sheraton! This is the largest wedding party I've ever photographed, and it was very impressive when they all lined up together for formal photos...it was a sea of purple :) All I can say is this group knew how to have a good time...stay tuned for some crazy dance photos from Jocelyn and RJ's wedding!

Lanai E-session with Jaysa and Pat!!

I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was when a couple months ago, Alan called me, saying that a client named Jaysa loved our work and wanted to fly us out to Lanai for her engagement shoot!! First of all, I've never been to Lanai. Second, the idea of being flown somewhere for an engagement shoot just blew my mind. I was stoked :)

Last month, this amazingness became a reality, and Alan and I flew out to Lanai and met up with Jaysa and Pat. We set out on an epic all-day shoot, exploring the island and shooting at a ton of locations, including a canopy forest, red dirt hills, a golf course, Lanai City, Manele Bay, Sweetheart Rock, and a ranch! All I can say is that it was a ton of fun! So much, in fact, that Alan and I almost forgot to head back to the airport to catch our flight out lol.

Sun-Kissed

I couldn't resist...here's another sneak peak from our Lanai trip! :) After a nice lunch with Jaysa, Pat, and Alan at Manele Bay, I decided to explore the area and get a few shots of Jaysa's engagement ring. I  have this obsession with sun flare in my photos (as Alan has in his videos), and this time was no different! This shot took almost half an hour of careful balancing and timing between the breeze that blew through the area, but it was all worth it :D

More to come later!

Alongside You

Here's a sneak peak at an amazing e-session that Alan and I had with Jaysa and Pat!! As we were being driven around Lanai (yes, we got to do an e-session on Lanai!!), Pat told us we could pull over and take photos wherever we needed. When I saw this stunning stretch of road in the late, afternoon light, I knew we had to stop. Of course, we looked for cars before doing this shot ;)

Stay tuned for a full post and behind the scenes photos!

Lesley and Keahi Engaged!

Last month, Isle Media traveled to Maui to take part in the wedding expo at the Kamehameha Golf Club. While we were in the neighborhood, we were able to meet up with Lesley and Keahi to do their engagement session! Lesley is one of our early believers who has been following our work for a long time, and booked us a while back to shoot her wedding this September! It was very refreshing to shoot an engagement session on another island, and thanks to some location suggestions from the couple, we were able to explore new ground on Maui. The engagement session was shot at Kealia Boardwalk and Makena Golf Resort. You can check out some behind the scenes photos from this shoot here.

Thanks for stopping by!

-Reese

P.S Lesley, thank you very much for the restaurant suggestions and ono mochi at the expo!! We'll see you in September!
