Karen and Yoontae // Married at the Halekulani!

Chinese + Korean ceremonies seem to be the trend for us this year (we love it!). Karen and Yoontae executed a cultural diverse wedding at the beautiful Halekulani Hotel. We are reminded yet again why Hawaii is the perfect destination wedding location because of the gorgeous golden sunsets that seem to be a trademark here.
Congratulations Karen and Yoontae!

Jaysa and Pat Married!!

Bach in March, Jaysa and Pat flew Alan and I out to Lanai to do their engagement shoot! It was a very cool experience, and we were able to get to know the couple better, especially since Pat grew up on Lanai, and they both routinely take hunting trips to the island. A few months later, the couple tied the knot in the Kamehameha Chapel, a venue known for its spectacular ceiling and koa pews. The reception was packed with amazing details and props that blended the couple's personality wonderfully into the event. Family and friends all pitched in to help with the event, and it was great to see everyone coming together to help celebrate Jaysa and Pat's big day. Congratulations you two!

We return to Olowalu for Diane and Joey's Wedding! (Lahiana, Maui)

Diane and Joey chose to get married at one of our favorite spots: Olowalu Plantation in Lahaina, Maui. This place is so magical. Plantation stye house situated on a lush lawn. Long stretch of private beach overlooking a big body body blue ocean. What a great setting for Diane and Joey.
Congratulations to you both!

Kitiya and Jeffrey Married!

This is the first time that a wedding took place in three hotels! Kitiya and Jeffrey got ready at the Sheraton, had their ceremony at the Moana Surfrider, and had their reception at the Aston Martin Waikiki. As you can guess, there was a lot of moving around and craziness!

The ceremony was definitely one of the most emotional I've seen. The couple actually planned the date of their wedding on the first year anniversary of the passing of Jeffrey's mother. Her portrait had a front row seat during the ceremony, and there was no shortage of tears throughout the vows. The reception was intimate and low key, but quickly picked up once everyone hit the dance floor :) Kitiya and Jeffrey also did some fun improv with the traditional bouquet and garter toss. Kitiya threw her bouquet four times (wanted to give all the girls a chance), and Jeffrey ended up giving Kitiya his bow tie to use as the garter :)

Such a fun bunch of people to hang out with...congratulations you two!!

Suzette and Elliot Married!!

The cool thing about shooting weddings is that you get to step into the lives of the couple for the day. Suzette and Elliot decided to have a traditional Catholic Mass for their wedding ceremony, and it was very obvious how close they are to their faith. The reception was over at the Aston Martin in Waikiki, and I was absolutely blown away by the view! From the 22nd floor, we had a uninterrupted 180 degree panorama of Waikiki. We all lucked out, as the sunset was nothing short of stunning. Everyone had their cameras out to capture the vivid colors in the sky. Billy V, from 105.1 was the emcee, and apparently, he and Suzette worked together years ago at a TV station!

The evening closed with the weekly fireworks show over at the Hilton, which Eliot wittily remarked to the out of town guests: "we made special arrangements to put this fireworks show on for you!"

Congratulations Suzette and Eliot!

Lesley and Keahi Married!

Lesley & Keahi SDE (Wailuku, Maui) from Isle Media on Vimeo.

Lesley and Keahi have been long-time followers of our work. We first met them in November of last year, when we were on Maui for another wedding. In March, we did Lesley and Keahi's engagement shoot when we were in town for the Maui wedding expo (thank you for the mochi Lesley!) It was nice to come full circle and document their big day at the Kamehameha Golf Club on Maui a few months later.

Makeup humor at Lesley's house. The guys sporting nike sneakers and socks. A sun-soaked ceremony. Dramatic fog during the grand entrance. Taiko drumming. This wedding had plenty of memorable moments throughout. Congratulations Lesley and Keahi!

Jessi & Bryson Same Day Edit!

Jessi and Bryson's relationship dates back from when they were in high school. Over the span of the much of their lives fate brought them together, time and time again. Heartfelt, personally written vows were the highlight of their ceremony. Everyone could feel their passion. Our same-day-edit brought their wedding to a close and we were so happy to share this video with them.
Thank and congratulations to you both.

Alison and Todd Married!!

Alison and Todd's wedding took place at the beautiful Moli'i Gardens, out on the windward side. This was our first time shooting at that venue, and we were definitely blown away by everything it had to offer! From a sweeping view of Secret Island and the surrounding fishpond, to a high tree canopy over the ceremony, to an intimate reception area nestled on the side of the slopes, this place didn't disappoint :)

This wedding was thought out remarkably well. There was tons of artistic elements, like paper cranes, photo montages of Alison and Todd, and even clothes-lines so guests could display their photo booth photos! There was an awesome band that played a great mix of dancing music, and the food had everyone going back for seconds. What was even more amazing was that Alison planned this all by herself. How she did it, I have no idea, but everything turned out amazing!

Oh, and did I mention the people at this wedding knew how to have a good time? The speeches were some of the best I've ever heard, and there was no shortage of dancing on the dance floor :)

Photoshoot for the Honolulu Eye Clinic!

A few weeks ago, Dr. Rupa Wong of the Honolulu Eye Clinic contacted us to do a group portrait of her staff in their office at Queen's Hospital. Everyone wore green to celebrate the holidays, and of course, sported the various pairs of glasses that are offered at the clinic :)

Congratulations to Dr. Rupa Wong and her husband, Dr. Jeff Wong, who were both recently awarded "Best Doctors in Hawaii 2012!!" You check out the article here. For more information on their clinic, check out their website here.

The staff was a ton of fun to work with...it is very obvious that they're a big family, and I look forward to working with again in the future!

Soojung & Wil Wedding Highlights (Loulu Palm Estate, North Shore Oahu) from Isle Media on Vimeo.

Soojung and Wil had a wedding filled with a barrage of culture- from a contemporary American ceremony to a Korean traditional ceremony. I really liked the cute outfits that they each put on for the Korean portion! This was our first time ever seeing this. :)
Congratulations to you both, Soojung and Wil!

Beth and Kyle Engaged!!

I love it when couples find a way to incorporate a part of themselves into their engagement shoot! In Kyle and Beth's case, they both enjoy cooking, and thought it'd be fun to take some photos while they were in the kitchen. Boy did we have a blast! :) Congratulations you two...excited for the big day next year!!

Sean and Alisha Married! (Hale Koa, Waikiki)

Sean & Alisha Wedding Highlights (Hale Koa, Waikiki) from Isle Media on Vimeo.

Sean and Alisha married at the Hale Koa, Maile Garden. Princess pink colors adorned their ceremony and reception, which had to compensate for Sean's World Wrestling craze. Can you tell by his entrance and groom's cake? Lol.

Congratulations Alisha and Sean!

Izumi & Robert's Wedding Formals at Ko Olina

Izumi and Robert came from North Dakota, and although being legally married for a few years, they did not have a chance to have a wedding ceremony or photos taken in the past, because of Robert's deployment. Recently he was back in the US, and they were able to begin a nice family life together. During their first Hawaii vacation together, they decided to have a photo session with us in Ko Olina!

With Meileen's amazing hair-do and make-up as usual, Izumi looked stunning in her wedding dress. During couple photo sessions, I always ask them to look into each others eyes... and smile... and kiss. Izumi and Robert were very good at bringing out their romantic emotions anytime I asked them those requests :-) I could see there is a strong chemistry between the two, and that made me want be just like them - being super lovie-dovie, even after years of marriage life!

Congratulations & have a happy life!

Jennifer and Jordon Same-Day-Edit // Ihilani, Koolina

Jennifer and Jordon's' entire wedding took place at the Ihilani in Koolina.  Jennifer spent the morning rehearsing her surprise flash mob dance that was choreographed to Lady Gaga's "On the Edge of Glory."   That was only one of several surprises she had for her fiance.   Jordon also was the recipient of a groom's cake, shaped in the form of a sneaker.   Definitely a unique creation that we have never witnessed before.  : )

Congratulations to Jennifer and Jordon for a fun filled wedding.

Sheri and Matt Married!

Sheri and Matt are one of the most chill couples we've ever had the privilege of working with! From their first inquiry with us, to their engagement shoot, to their wedding day, these two were an absolute pleasure to work with!

Lots of memories from this couple's big day! To start things off, Sheri surprised Matt with new rims for his truck, and he was FLOORED. During the ceremony, when Matt was asked to accept Sheri as his wife, he replied with a casual "yeah," drawing laughter from everyone in the crowd. At the reception, Da Bruddahs kept everyone rolling around with laughter, from the interviews with "Senator Daniel Inouye" and "Carol Kai," to Matt dressing up in a hula outfit and showing him how to dance. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a wedding before :)

Congratulations you two!
