Kana and Chihiro's Post Wedding Photo Shoot!

It was a great pleasure to work with this fun-loving couple, Kana and Chihiro from Tokyo! After their wedding day, we decided to go to Kailua and have a beach and town-themed photo shoot. One of the props they wanted to use were Supreme's water guns! In between romantic intimate photos, I asked them to pick up the water guns, and fight REAL hard! Both Kana and Chiriro were such action stars! They shoot, dodge, tumble on the sand, and the person who won the fight was… KANA! Later on we went to the first skateboarding shop in Hawaii - called 808 Skate per Chihiro's request. Check out their wedding photo blog (Click Here) to see his skateboarding tricks too!

綺麗なビーチでの撮影がしたい！ということで、結婚式の翌日にロケーション撮影に行ってきました。朝の東海岸のビーチは海の色がとても綺麗で、この日もとてもいいお天気に恵まれました：）色々なフォトプロップをお持ちいただいたのですが、私のお気に入りはSupremeの水鉄砲！思いっきり戦ってもらいました（笑）撃って、撃って、避けて、撃って、転がって…勝者は花嫁のKanaさん：）アクティブなお二人との撮影はとても楽しかったです。

ビーチの後は、スケボーが好きなChihiroさんのリクエストで、ハワイのスケボー第一店舗だという808 Skateに言ってきました。中には沢山の種類のスケボーが勢揃い。お二人らしい、カラフルな写真になりました。

親友でもあり、夫婦でもあり、そんな仲良しなお二人。これからもお幸せに！

It is no secret that the Japanese have impeccable style and taste. Kana had the coolest little custom bouquets for her bridesmaid and herself that I had never seen before. Kana had several stunning dress changes as well. Chihiro sported a multi-layered blue pinstripe suit that was just super cool. It's amazing that we have the opportunity to be immersed in foreign cultures here in Hawaii.

かなさん、ちひろさんご結婚おめでとうございます！

ハワイカイにある邸宅、ビーチフロントオアシスでの挙式＆レセプションを挙げられたお二人。一つ一つ小さな生花を敷き詰めてお友達カップルが作ったリングピロー、ブライズメイドがサプライズで作ってくれたお揃いのネックレス、どんなシーンでも一緒にいる時間が心地よく楽しい、そんなたくさんのお友達に囲まれて、みんなで作り上げた素晴らしい一日でした。

友達っていいなって改めて思わせていただいたお二人の結婚式に、フォト＆ビデオチームが両方撮影に携われてとても嬉しく思います！

Our First Wedding Shoot in Tokyo!

Our first international wedding shoot in Tokyo, Japan!

Alan and I had an opportunity to shoot Yuka & Yasuyuki's wedding at Hibiya park last week :) I was super excited when Yuka first popped the question to me: "Are you by chance in Japan in October? We have a wedding reception back in Japan, and I would like you to photograph it as well..." Working internationally was one of my goals of 2013, so my answer was YES! This was our international shoot debut for both photo and video team.

The above photograph was taken in front of a busy intersection right outside of their venue. I wanted to incorporate the Big City feel into this picture with the motion from the cars passing by. More photos will be posted later on. Stay tuned!

Elaine & Kevin Married!

I met Elaine and Kevin for the first time exactly a week before their wedding day. Their wedding plan had been moved up, with the wedding happening this June instead of next year :) I met them several times before the wedding day to get to know them, and I was happy to capture their fun personalities with each other! Kevin was very good at making Elaine laugh :-) Enjoy the highlight pictures from their wedding day!

Reina & Taro Married!

Reina and Taro decided to have their dream destination wedding in Hawaii.  Their day started from getting ready at the historical Royal Hawaiian Hotel, enjoying some champagne gift from their friend, having the ceremony at Calvary by The Sea church then photo session in Downtown. They brought some props and balloons - which made the photo shoot fun and cute :) This time I made this blog post entirely Black & White to match the vintage and classic feel of the day - Enjoy!

Love in Kohala

Here's a sneak peak from Eldon and Cassiee's wedding in Kohala! Their wedding was easily one of the most photogenic events we've ever documented, and we were stoked to be a part of it! Trevor and I climbed up a tree to get this angle for photo/video, and it was well worth the effort :) More to come later!!

Hiroko & Daisuke Married!

Hiroko & Daisuke flew from Yokohama for their intimate wedding in the Big Island! They got ready at a beautiful resort hotel, Mauna Lani Bay in South Kohala coast, then had a ceremony in Kona, then reception back at Mauna Lani Bay. Both Hiroko and Daisuke work for a TV production company in Tokyo - they were rather comfortable behind the camera (just like me!), but this time, they were in front of the camera :-) A few days before their wedding, Kona had pretty thick vog and the sunset was less colorful - on the contrary, on their wedding day, it was just like magic that the sky was so clear and the sunset was so beautiful! It was wonderful to be a part of their day!

大輔さん＆寛子さん　ご結婚おめでとうございます！

ハワイ島でのリゾートウェディング。準備とレセプションはサウスコハラコーストにあるマウナラニベイホテルにて、そしてセレモニーはコナにあるLiving Stone Churchで行われました。日本ではテレビプロダクションで働いていらっしゃるとの事で、普段はカメラを回している方が慣れていらっしゃるためにカメラシャイなお二人でしたが（私も同じ立場なのでよく分かります^^）、この晴れの日には私のカメラスクリーンに収めさせて頂きました:-)

Vogが続いていたコナサイドですが、結婚式当日はとてもよいお天気に恵まれ、サンセットもとても素敵でした。特にビーチには２つの木が寄り添うように立っている場所があり、そこでのシルエット写真は私のお気に入りのサンセット写真の一つとなりました。

Love in Hilo

Every now and then, I have the privilege to shoot a wedding for a friend. In Elena and Ian's case, both are my friends from college so to document their wedding day in Hilo, this past weekend was really special :)

Cristine & Pat Married!

Working with a couple who know us already definitely helps us to capture a more relaxed and natural look! In Pat and Cristine's case, Lester and I were the photographers for their engagement photos, and it was SO nice to see them again on their wedding day :-)

Critsine was probably one of the calmest brides I ever worked with - she was so relaxed when we were taking pictures and videos during the getting ready shots. Maybe it's because Cristine and Pat has been together since high school, and they have known each other so much - very comfortable with each other :-) It was very exciting to see these two tie the knot!

Silhouette in Waikiki

Hawaii has nicest sunset almost everyday. Yellow, orange, pink, purple.. everyday is unique. Kaori and Wataru were very lucky to encounter this beautiful sunset in Waikiki. Earlier, the color was orange and aqua color and later it changed to pink and ultramarine. More pictures from their session are coming soon :-)

Purple and Gray

Large wedding parties often give us a great chance to be creative with posing for group shots. After some thoughtful composing, we came up with this arrangement after Lesley and Keahi's ceremony at the Kamehameha Golf Club on Maui. Such an awesome group of people! More to come later!

Wedding Preview: Kim & Clinton!

It's not everyday that we get to hang out with a wedding party from Australia! Kim and Clinton's group is from all over the land Down Under...Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth to name a few :) Here's a sneak peak from their wedding at Loulu Palm Estate!

Faithful

Reese and I first met Aimee and King Ming last fall, when they visited Hawaii for their engagement photo shoot. We had our shoot at the Ala Moana Park, then moved to a gorgeous church in downtown.  I remember their nice smiles and laughter during the photo shoot, and I knew these two really had chemistry together. Later that day in the evening when we went to the church for the rest of the shooting, it started to rain quite heavily! They remained in high spirits, and our photo shoot went very well :-)

A winter passed, sprint passed, and the Summer 2012, we were there for their wedding at the beautiful Loulu Palm Estate on the North Shore! It was so great to see them and we could be part of their special day! The above ring shot was inspired by the couple's strong faith. We wish all the best to Aimee and King Ming! Ceremony Panorama

A classic wedding image is shooting down the aisle towards the couple. How do you keep things fresh? You turn the perspective into a 15 shot panorama, praying that nobody moves during the 10 seconds that you're creating the panorama, and then praying a few days later while the computer merges all the shots together. But the results can be pretty cool...for those of you familiar with cameras, the panorama above has a depth of field equivalent to a 35mm lens @ f0.74. Kinda crazy :)

Rockin the Purple :)

Here's a couple sneak peak shots from Jocelyn and RJ's wedding this past Friday at the Maui Sheraton! This is the largest wedding party I've ever photographed, and it was very impressive when they all lined up together for formal photos...it was a sea of purple :) All I can say is this group knew how to have a good time...stay tuned for some crazy dance photos from Jocelyn and RJ's wedding!

Receptions give me some of the best opportunities to grab emotions. Alison and Todd's reception was brimming with everything from tearful, tender moments, to gut-wrenching laughter. Can't wait to show you guys more photos from this wedding :)

On another note, tomorrow is gonna be crazy for us! A photo and video team will be shooting a wedding (with SDE) on Maui, and another video team will simultaneously be shooting a wedding (with SDE) at the Ihilani Resort! Lots to come on the blog!

A Wedding Entrance From Above!

I've shot a lot of weddings, but this ceremony entrance WOWed me. Jeff is a pilot, and flew Kim and himself to their ring ceremony in Kahala! The whole event was Kim's vision, and I must say, it was absolutely beautiful! More to come later!

Owl Love

Mabel and Chad's wedding had a wonderfully whimsical feel to it, including the cake toppers. It was therefore a no brainer to use these two adorable owls for the ring shot :)
