Mehana and Earl

Last weekend, Jack and I had the privilege to shoot Mehana's and Earl's wedding.  The weather may have been a little off but who cares when you've got a awesome couple and their family and friends having a good time. We're glad we were there to take part in their big day.

Here's a little preview.

Chapel Place of Joy

I've shot at some stunning venues before, but the Ko Olina Chapel Place of Joy was really something special. Stunning glass walls, white leather pews, and reflective floor tiles gave this chapel a surreal beauty that I've never seen anywhere else. On Wednesday, Kelly and Jay tied the knot here, in the presence of their family and friends...all I can say is that it was an honor to document their big day! More to come later :)

Ethan's 1st Birthday!

Happy Birthday Ethan!

Glenn and I were so happy to film this amazingly fun party to cerebrate Ethan's first birthday :-) His mother Sherrie was working SO hard to make this happen and was making sure that everybody was having fun... it was a huge success to me! There were merry-go-rounds, face paint, tatoo, balloon stations, popcorn and cotton candy stands, a photo booth by Photo Box Hawaii (SO MUCH FUN!), dancers, and a clown show too! This birthday was so eventful, and I was able to capture lots of nice emotions in the pictures.

I hope in the future, when Ethan is a bit older, he will take a look at this blog post and know how much he is loved by his parents, families and friends. Please enjoy the photos :D

Behind The Scenes with Kristin Kato from A Cake Life!

As part of our May premier, we are featuring several local companies that we have teamed up with. In this blog post, Kristin Kato, owner of A Cake Life, has the spotlight! First of all, Kristin's cakes are ONO. Like you wouldn't believe wedding cakes could taste so good :) Alan and I had a cake sampling during a meeting with Kristin a few months back and all we can say is that we were bummed she didn't bring the whole cake :)

Anyway, on Saturday, Alan and I joined Kristin and her team on a double delivery day, which included wedding cake deliveries at the Waialae Country Club, and Washington Place (Governor's mansion). It was a very cool experience to see all the work that goes into transporting and setting up a wedding cake!

Vanessa & Orlando Married!

Vanessa first contacted Isle Media in January of 2012. She told me that she was planning everything herself! Considering that they are California natives, I recommended to them a wedding planner to work with so that Vanessa would be able to enjoy her wedding day and preparation with less pressure :-) Their wedding day was a huge success, with a beautiful ceremony at Waialae Beach Park in Kahala, and their wedding reception at Coconut Club Waikiki on the 21st floor of the Aston Hotel!  I was so happy to be there capturing their emotions in pictures.

Both Vanessa, Orlando, and all the wedding party were so nice and friendly. I cannot express the warmth I felt in my heart when I heard their words of appreciations to us. Thank you very very much for choosing Isle Media for the photography service on your special day, and I hope you all will enjoy the pictures.

Muchas Gracias!

Isle Media Returns to Kauai for Steve and Jeanette!!!

Steve & Jeanette tie the knot on the beautiful island of Kauai, the bride's hometown. With a traditional ceremony held at Immaculate Conception Catholic church and a lavish reception following at Kauai Beach Resort, the wedding was nothing less than perfect, down to every detail. That dessert looked so delish!
Congratulations Steve and Jeanette!

Ethan's 1st Birthday! (Preview)

This is one of my favorite shots from Ethan's birthday party last week! The theme was a "carnival." There were fun carousel rides outside, popcorn & cotton-candy makers, face paint, balloon and face paint artists, photo booth, and a 40 minute clown show (the kids were so hooked!!) - pretty much everything a child could wish for.   :D This picture was taken on a merry-go-round before the start of  this epic party! More pictures are coming soon.  Please stay tuned!

Sei and Chris :: Same-day-edit+Engagement Video!

When I first met Chris and Sei, my impression was that they are total opposites; Chris was quiet and reserved, Sei was outgoing and spontaneous. As we got to know Chris and Sei more through numerous meetings, we realized how perfect they are for each other. They are two pieces of a jigsaw puzzel that fell right into each other. Chris is Sei's sweetheart and Sei is Chris' princess!
Please be sure to check out their hilarious engagement video here:

An Epic Hike...for an Epic Shot.

Alan: "For our May Premier intro video, I want to do an epic crane shot of the video team atop Kokohead with sunset in the background."
Video team: "Oh cool, but wouldn't that mean we'd have to--
Alan: "Yes, carry the crane up the mountain."
Video team: "Are you serious??!!"
Alan: "Yes. We're gonna do it."

And so it was decided. A few days before our May Premier, Alan, the video crew and me (Reese), made the epic trek up Kokohead with over 200 lbs of crane rig sections, tripods, and cameras. I came along to document the crazy event with photos (as you will see in this post) and also to work the crane, since all of the video guys had to be in the shot.

We started hiking just about half an hour before sunset, so we had to HUSTLE to get to the top with all the gear in time for sunset...

Rhyllah & Kendall :: Married!

Outgoing, fun, and perfect for each other. Kendall and Rhyllah celebrated their love in local style: family and friends. Plus all the good food and entertainment! But what really made this day was the support of everyone and the coming together to rejoice in the love and happiness that these two share.
Rhyllah Kendall, thank you for letting us be a part of your day.

Here's another sneak peak at Damon and Ann's wedding! Shot this during the formals after the ceremony at the Ihilani. We had some nice, afternoon light, so I took them atop the main staircase to get some nice backlit portraits. Such an awesome couple work with...incredibly grateful for everything in their lives, and just really down to earth people :)

Stay tuned for the full post!

Chazlyn Graduates Highschool!

...unlike our typical wedding shoot where I often feel like the young guy...this particular afternoon as I filmed 15+ innocent teenagers, I felt like the OLD guy. :-X
Chazlyn's favorite past time is canoe paddling, so what better place than Kaiser bowls to film her along with her besties cruising around on boats and eating pizza. Couldn't resist ending the short with our favorite lens flare+ golden hour lights. This video will be played at her graduation celebration party! How fun.

Make-up for Zooey Magazine Publication!

Destination Vacation to Hawaii

Outside of weddings, I pursue model work as a way to push my creative side. The locations, the colors, the details, I love it! For this particular shoot, the theme was a 1950's vintage look. The make up I did reflected this theme in its color and style. I focused on creating a clean face, to bring focus to the eyes and lips. I did a winged eye-liner for the eyes, and a bold, red approach to the lips.

So blessed to work with these amazing and talented group of people!  It was a long day that paid off...we got a 10-page spread on this! You can check out the images on the magazine website here. Thank you Zooey Magazine!

Renee and Jason:: Married at Lanikuhonua !

Renee and Jason Wedding Highlights (Full Version) from Isle Media on Vimeo.

As a guy, I understand and appreciate the value of a clean, fresh cut fade. :) In fact, I trust only one person with my hair. (Jenny @Pearl City Barber shop, LOL). Jason and I seem to have that in common, because he flew his barber all the way across the ocean to line him up on the morning of his big day. : )
Renee and Jason, both sharing an interest in sports and basketball, are best friends that were meant for eachother. Their entourage of friends and family made a memorable walk-in dance set the mood for the rest of the night. Two beautiful families. Laughter. Tears. Amazing sunset. That's all you need. :)

Congratulations to you both, Renee and Jason!

Ashley & Randy :: Married at the Waialae Country Club!

Randy, Justin and I are long time friends that have shared the love for surfing and over the many years became good friends. Randy comes from a beautiful family, consisting of a twin brother, two other siblings and loving, supporting parents. His family has been so kind to even take me in as their own at times, which I always sincerely appreciated.
I knew Randy when he first met Ashley, before she had a name, but was referred to as the "principal's daughter." : ) Randy was set on a mission to steal her heart. (When Randy set's his mind to to something, it is no joking matter). While we would talk as boys over trading sets on the surf, I knew just by how he described Ashley, this girl was something special. Knowing Randy's heart, he deserved the best. Ashley is just that. Kind. Sweet. Loving. Cute. What a match.
It was truly an honor, privilege and joy to be given the responsibility of capturing their wedding day on video.
(Also special thanks to my incredible Isle Media Team, Michael, Glenn, and Trevor for the amazing shots to work with. You sure made my job easy. Jack, although we know you were shooting solo up in Kona on your own wedding, we sure missed you too! )

Isle Media's First Civil Union Wedding!

Wow. What an amazing experience! Yesterday, Isle Media covered its first civil union wedding for Crystal and Kaleka at Kakaako Waterfront Park. It was a small, intimate event with SO much emotion...the tears were streaming. After hearing Crystal and Kaleka read their vows that they wrote themselves, all I can say is these two were truly meant for each other :)

Stay tuned for more!

Kelsey and Peter :: Married at Haiku Gardens!

Kelsey and Peter is one of the sweetest couples we have ever met. From just briefly meeting Kelsey, we quickly realized she was genuine inside and out. Peter's sense of humor also compliments Kelsey's elegance. They are made for each other.

If you look carefully, a special someone has a few cameos in there....  : )

Kristen and Chad Married!!

As members of the U.S military, both Kristen and Chad endured a long distance relationship for five years.  To document them finally tying the knot, in the presence of their families and friends, was quite an experience! The wedding was stunning... Kristen and Chad were married at the beautiful Ihliani Resort over in Ko Olina, with an outdoor ceremony in the late afternoon warmth, and a wedding party dressed up in classic black and white. Lots of emotions at the reception, from tears to laughter :)

Kristen and Chad, thank you for having us at your wedding, and Congratulations to you both!!

-Reese (blog post, photography), Kay (photography), (Alan, Jack, Glenn, and Michael (videography & SDE)

P.S Kristen and Chad were also gracious enough to come out and support us at our Isle Media Premier on May 31st! Thank you thank you thank you!! It was so nice seeing you both!!

Wedding Collection Spring 2012 !

A client once told me that because I am not married myself, I will never understand a wedding the way she does. ...Well, I kind of...disagree (at some weddings I think I actually care more than the clients, LOL) : )
The entire Isle Media videography crew is actually....unmarried AND single (ha ha ha). But we like to think that our bachelor status gives us an edge that no one can really touch. On the outside, we are just a bunch of media junkies that spend our free time watching online tutorials and looking up the latest DSLR gear. On the inside, we are hopeless romantics that live to witness perfect love that all of our clients seem to have. With some of us having experienced some rather devastating break-ups in recent history... lets just say our personal heartbreak has created a special bond between one another, and strengthened us as a whole. It's ok. Love is patient. The time will come. Just not now. Meanwhile, what we don't have for ourselves, we unselfishly want for you.
This goes out to the one that got away....
Special thanks to all of our Jan-May 2012 couples:
Vanessa and JP
Jackie and Cole
Kristen and Chad
Joy and Aaron
Linda and Ray
Shino and Akina
Vera and David
Ka'eolani and Justin
Shannon and Ryan
Marcela and Gabriel
Danielle and Michael
Renee and Jason
Kelsey and Peter
Jennifer and Justin
Megan and Bryan
Sabrina and Dan
Anna and Ryan
Rhyllah and Kendall
Renee and Jason
(Btw- This piece took over 24 hours spread over the course of 3 days to put together. With so much moving footage it really was hard compose everything while still being able to tell a story. ...I've been dreaming about editing to this song for about 8 months.)

Please enjoy everyone and thank you!

Isle Media Turns 1!

It seemed like just yesterday the Isle Media team first came to know each other on this small island, talking about how we were going to start a new wedding media concept that hopefully, people might like. I cannot describe the emotions that we experienced celebrating our one year anniversary as a company in front of an audience of our supporters. Hundreds of people, including our friends, family, colleagues, past/future clients gathered to share this very special night with us. Later, many commented that it was very clear how much we love each other.

This premier is one of many more milestones to come :)

Thank you,

-Alan & the Isle Media Team

Hey guys! Reese here. I updated this blog post with some BTS images I shot before the doors opened for our anniversary. Wanted to start off with an image of Kristin's two stunning cakes, one that she custom made for our premier! Yup, that's a Canon 5D mkIII at the top! Kristin also made 200 cupcakes to put into each gift-bag for the premier guests. Enjoy!!

Stealing the Dance Floor!

Here's a sneak peak from Damon and Ann's wedding that I shot at the Ihilani Resort last week! Their daughter, Hannah, and her friend, stole the dance floor with a rendition of Michael Jackson's "Bad." Almost everyone at the wedding eventually got on the dance floor... sub-woofers thumping, disco lights flashing, music blasting, wedding guests jumping up and was awesome!

Full post to come later...hope everyone had a great weekend!!
