Sun-Kissed

I couldn't resist...here's another sneak peak from our Lanai trip! :) After a nice lunch with Jaysa, Pat, and Alan at Manele Bay, I decided to explore the area and get a few shots of Jaysa's engagement ring. I  have this obsession with sun flare in my photos (as Alan has in his videos), and this time was no different! This shot took almost half an hour of careful balancing and timing between the breeze that blew through the area, but it was all worth it :D

More to come later!

Opposites Attract !

As they say, there are two sides to every story! More and more couples are asking that we do these "love story/engagement" type videos to "get the record straight." : ) Not everyone knows the story behind the story, and this makes for a good piece play at your reception. Lets just say the entire audience was in roaring laughter for the entire 12 minute duration ; )

Ka'eolani and Justin have been together for nearly 10 years. After spending an afternoon with them while filming their engagement video, I got to know these two even more on a personal level. Justin-the jokester, Ka'eo-the serious one. Justin- spur-of-moment, Ka'eolani- planned, organized and conservative. Justin-reggae lover and Ka'eolani- country, all day! I'm convinced that opposites do attract, because these two are perfect for each other.

Ka'eo and Justin hold a special place in my heart as well, because she booked me nearly 10 months ago, when I may not even had more than 1 or 2 weddings under my belt. Thank you for believing in our talent, trusting us well before we deserved to be trusted, and allowing us to capture such an important day for the two of you. Everything turned out beautiful!

Thank you again, I have a feeling we will see you many more times again this year : )

Discover the World of Collins+8th Boutique

Creative filming is a nice reminder of my love of cinematography and art. As much as we love weddings, sometimes it's nice to take a little break. Maida and Joey, owners of Collins+8th, invited me to attend and film their 2012 fashion preview that took place at their quaint space in Honolulu. The models were gorgeous and fun, the audience brought an incredible energy and the pupu's were delicious! It's no wonder why Collins+8th won 2012 boutique of the year!

With the limited spacing, all I could manage to work with were my tripod and camera. My goal was to keep the promo light and exciting, I knew that most of the work would have to be in the edit. I really enjoyed myself in the post-production of this piece, I hope you all like it as well!

Thank you Maida and Joey for having me!

Alongside You

Here's a sneak peak at an amazing e-session that Alan and I had with Jaysa and Pat!! As we were being driven around Lanai (yes, we got to do an e-session on Lanai!!), Pat told us we could pull over and take photos wherever we needed. When I saw this stunning stretch of road in the late, afternoon light, I knew we had to stop. Of course, we looked for cars before doing this shot ;)

Stay tuned for a full post and behind the scenes photos!

Megan and Bryan Wedding Highlights (Full Version)

We are so used to weddings being all about the bride and groom. Megan and Bryans' priority however, were taking care of their guests. Their modified reception program was short and to the point. No bouquet/garter toss. No drawn out speeches. "oh no...we can't be cutting into our dancing time!" Megan laughed about with me several days prior to her wedding.

It was very clear that everyone had the time of their life. For many, they traveled from far away and across an ocean to share this special day with Megan and Bryan. Even the whales came to visit, who were playing and dancing in the water directly in front of Olowalu Plantation! Yes, everyone seemed to be a consensus that Maui was indeed, a magical place that will be hard to ever forget. Smiles, laughter, everywhere. What an easy bunch to film. : )

Please enjoy the full version of the highlights everyone!

Lesley and Keahi Engaged!

Last month, Isle Media traveled to Maui to take part in the wedding expo at the Kamehameha Golf Club. While we were in the neighborhood, we were able to meet up with Lesley and Keahi to do their engagement session! Lesley is one of our early believers who has been following our work for a long time, and booked us a while back to shoot her wedding this September! It was very refreshing to shoot an engagement session on another island, and thanks to some location suggestions from the couple, we were able to explore new ground on Maui. The engagement session was shot at Kealia Boardwalk and Makena Golf Resort. You can check out some behind the scenes photos from this shoot here.

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S Lesley, thank you very much for the restaurant suggestions and ono mochi at the expo!! We'll see you in September!

Hokulani Bake Shop Wins "Cupcake Wars" on the Food Network!

Congratulations to Hawaii's very own, Hokulani Bake Shop for not only landing a slot onto Food Network's "Cupcake Wars," but for also taking home a first place finish! Isle Media was picked up at the last minute to put together this very quick promo video for Hokulani, that was debuted on the BIG screen at Ward Theater during their celebration party. Enjoy!

Maui Expo Trip: Behind the Scenes!!

Last month, Isle Media flew out to Maui to take part in the Maui Wedding Expo at the King Kamehameha Golf Club! It was a three day affair, and we were able to fit in a whole day at the expo, an engagement shoot, as well as some R&R time for ourselves :) Our travels took us from the summit of Haleakala, to the beaches of Kaanapali, and it was all a TON of fun.

Alan's brother, Pab, joined us on this trip, and brought lots of humor and help during the expo :)
Here are some photos that I shot during the trip! Happy Sunday!

Maui Bound- An evening at Olowalu (teaser trailer)

It's been a few weeks since our last wedding post, but we are back. : ) On February 29, 2012, Isle Media spent the day at Olowalu Plantation House, Maui. Olowalu has a certain WOW factor, that as you can tell by the footage, makes it considerably easy for us to get artistic and beautiful shots.  Megan and Bryan hold Maui as a very special place in their hearts, and it was so nice to be able to see them share it with their friends and family who traveled far away from home.

Here's a short teaser trailer of a much larger, epic day. Stay tuned for the full version coming next week!
