Makeup & Hair for Yana from Vladivostock, Russia!

Here’s another beautiful bride I got to work with earlier this month.  Yana, her hubby and their two year old son flew all the way from Russia to renew their vows in the beautiful island of Oahu.  Knowing there are thousands of people that fly in to Hawaii reminds me how lucky I am to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. 

Working with this beautiful bride is so much fun and effortless.  In my opinion, Yana’s beauty is unique as I rarely see Russians here in Hawaii.  With my experience of working in the fashion and beauty industry, I have come across different face features and ethnicities.  I must admit Russian women are among those who are blessed with beautiful features.  Yana, is one of the many that I enjoyed applying makeup on because of her smooth skin and her almond-shaped eyes makes it easy regardless of color and effects.

Nelli and Jason Engaged!

It's a bit of an understatement to say Nelli and Jason love the San Francisco 49'ers lol. Aside from matching Willis jerseys, the couple has a wide range of 49er memorabilia, which made for a great football theme. Nelli and Jason enjoy throwing around a football outside, so that also landed on the engagement agenda. After that, we decided to change things up and cruise around Chinatown for some nice afternoon light to end the shoot :)

Kat and Paul Engaged!

Kat and Paul has been together for a long time...they just made 9 years together :) We scheduled their engagement session right before Paul departed for Afghanistan. The shoot took place at a marina and a gorgeous sand bar next to Hickam base...the sunshine and blue skies definitely helped to set the mood for the shoot! It was so much fun to include their dog for some action shots too! Paul is very passionate about basketball and his Scion, both of which we were able to incorporate into the shoot. There was definitely no shortage of laughter and smiles during our session :) Congratulations on your engagement, guys...can't wait for your big day in July!

Argie and Dennis had of an epic love story that started as being high school sweethearts. It was only suitable that they had an epic wedding consisting a beautiful ceremony at the Hilton Hawaiian Village's Crystal Chapel and an elaborate reception at the Hyatt, following. What I loved about working with Argie and Dennis is the movie trailer we filmed prior to their wedding!  Check it out!

Argie and Dennis came up with a clever idea to create a movie trailer. One of their inspirations was "The Lucky One" a story by Nicholas Sparks. We all had a lot of fun to say the least, and tried to mix up the drama with some comic relief. Thank you for the opportunity to try new things!

We always love it when couples take the time to write their vows to each other, and Alysia and Mike's were written straight from the heart...when your vows take up an entire piece of paper, instead of a notecard, that's saying a lot! We also appreciated all the details of the day, from the glass lanterns, to the bridal party's fans, to Alysia's very cool retro umbrella. When these two held each other during formals, it was as if the whole world just melted away...gotta love moments like that :)

Sharnelle and Brian's Maternity Shoot

Right when Sharnelle and Brian were planning to get married, they knew they wanted to get maternity photos so I offered to do it for them.  It was awesome seeing them again, it's a rare occasion that we're able to see our clients after their wedding and do more photography for them.

2013 In Review!

Jenn and Minh's Engagement Photos (San Francisco, California)

Jenn and Minh flew me all the way to San Francisco for their engagement pictures (thanks for scheduling us in the cold of winter, btw!- just kidding)  We were fortunate to have some of the best weather with lots of sunshine.  Jenn and Minh introduced me to an area below the Golden Gate Bridge, which used to be an army fort.  From there we did some fun shots in their SF 49ers jerseys with their dog, Charlie.  We ended the afternoon with some sunset shots around town, shooting on streets and between buildings.  Thank you for an awesome e-sesh!  The entire Isle Media team is looking forward to returning for your SF wedding in May of 2014!

Elena and Renat's Honey Moon!

The most favorite part of my job would have to be building relationships with the people we work with.   Elena and Renat is the prime example of the connection we build with our couples.  While I shot with them, I also played tour guide making pit stops all over Waimanalo leading up to Waikiki.  In between locations we got some coconut milk at a nearby stand.  My most favorite part of the day was when we reached the fountain at Waikiki, they just jumped in.  Not knowing how to react, I just started shooting.  It was a fun time for us all.

Emjay and Ginno had a such an awesome wedding in Kauai. Everything was small and intimate enough so that no detail was spared with anything (thanks to you guys, now having a draped tent at my daughters' first birthday is a MUST, $$$ sigh). Rustic burlap accented chairs, shave ice station, sparklers for the first dance! Ah.... so many cool ideas. I smiled so big while editing this piece... (you two were just so darn cute, and a think everyone's a little bit envious with how perfect this day turned out)!

Daren and Julie Engaged!

We love it when couples incorporate something about themselves in their engagement sessions. Julie and Daren came with a bunch of ideas! The couple went to nursing school together at HPU, and wanted to use the campus as the location for their engagement shoot. We started off with some funny Pinterest ideas to utilize the classroom and outside spaces. Julie and Daren were able to get access to one of the nursing simulation rooms, complete with mannequins that are used for student practice and testing. The couple will be tying the knot at the end of this month, so the next time, they'll be in the classic black and white :)

Anabelle and Christian Married

Anabelle and Christian had an intimate wedding with their closest family and friends at Loulu Palms estate.  The most touching part of the day was when Christian's Mother honored her son with a lei prior to the ceremony and putting jewelry on Annabel.  She was so proud of them both.

Isle Media's 2013 Christmas Party!

On Monday, the Isle Media team, along with some friends and family, got together for our annual Christmas dinner at Bucca Di Beppo! It was a nice time for everyone to come together to enjoy some great food and company :) Also on the event's agenda was a pretty competitive Jeopardy Game, featuring trivia about Isle Media, as well as a hilarious Dirty Santa gift game :)
